It's that time of year!

We have had a couple crazy days at the Iverson house. Garett has come down with croup AND and ear infection, which landed him in the hospital for about 15 hours...not fun!

It started on Monday night, but Wednesday night at 10pm he woke up and couldn't breath...a little scary! He was having trouble moving a whole lot of air, so we drove to the ER. They gave him some medicine and it got better. But an hour later, he was having trouble again. So, we were admitted to the peds floor. They gave him more medication and some oxygen. He HATED the oxygen, he made such a fuss about it, which than made him cough more and have a harder time breathing...a vicious cycle. It is a scary feeling to see your child have a hard time breathing. And the memories that come flooding back are enormous. I could have been back at Littleton in the NICU listening to all the monitors go off as Garett slept, but we weren't, though eerily similar. Thankfully, he slept after we got up to the room at 2:30am and from that time on, he got better. By the morning he wanted to play, and hated that he had cords stopping him.  Try having a 16 month old find things to do in a hospital room...difficult. Now try having a 16 month old find things to do, when he can't go everywhere in the room because he has an O2 cord as a leash...impossible!! Luckily, we were able to remove the o2 after he took a morning nap and than we could play in the playroom! It wasted some time until we got home at 3pm on Thursday. It was a long 15 hours. And to top it off he also has an ear infection! Poor guy. He has been a trooper though and today, except for the incessant coughing and runny nose, he is good. We are definitely glad to be home...and now it is time to sanitize our house!!

It sure is that time of year for illness! This is really Garett's first real "cold" but we know it won't be his last. I don't think I will ever get over the worry that comes with him having a respiratory illness. He will probably be 15 and sick, but in my mind he will always be our little preemie home form the hospital, who can't get sick! Ahhh...motherhood! Hope everyone is staying healthy this winter season...don't forget to wash your hands!

At the Park

It has been so beautiful here in Colorado recently! We have been able to go to the park quite a bit lately, which is crazy for winter (even here in Colorado!) Being outside, especially going to the park is Garett's new favorite thing to do. He gets mad, when it is time to go inside. I don't think it matters how cold he is. He LOVES the slide and specifically going down on his tummy. He also has become obsessed with dogs, he points and squeals at them whenever he sees one. And I am pretty she the "EEE" sound he makes means Lucky. I can only assume he now thinks all dogs are Lucky! Here are some pictures of our day at the park on Sunday.

Weekend with Grandma & Grandpa

We have had a busy weekend! Grandma Kay and Grandpa Eric have been here since Friday and boy have we been going places. Let the pictures tell our adventures!

We started off the weekend with a trip to the aquarium!

He looks so serious...

There was a lot to look at!!

Especially a lot of FISH!!

Next Garett had his first haircut!!
His hair was so long we could almost put it in a little ponytail!

He was not quite sure what to think! But he sat pretty still and now has a big boy haircut!

Than we got to play at Monkey Business...there was a lot of things to do!

And after all that fun it was nap time! Lets hope he sleeps as good tonight too!
We sure are going to miss Grandma and Grandpa when they leave tomorrow.
But, not to worry, Garett is headed to Minnesota for EIGHT straight days with them in March!
I can only imagine the fun he will have than!!
